Parkinson's Support Group and Exercise Sessions - Gabriola Island

Provided by Parkinson Society British Columbia

A support group and exercise sessions for individuals and caregivers dealing with Parkinson's.
The purpose of the group is to ease the burden of having PD through mutual support, education and sharing of experiences and feelings in a confidential setting. Caregivers and those with Parkinson-like diseases (i.e., Multiple System Atrophy (MSA)) are also welcome to join.

Regular discussion meetings are at 2:45 PM - 4:00 PM every Friday of the month. There is an extensive check-in time and then some sort of presentation or guest speaker on a topic of interest, followed by discussion and a 1 hour exercise session. Meetings are all in-person at the Rollo Senior Centre, and are led by Nancy Boyes (Certified Personal trainer). Additionally, on the 4th Friday of each month, David Gramit will lead you through seated Tai Chi. David comes from Tai Chi Nanaimo to lead this programming.

Confidentiality is a critical component of participating in Support Groups. Personal information is shared in confidence and is not to be repeated outside of the group.
