Mental Wellness and Counselling (MWC) Program - Funding for Counselling

Healthcare Providers, Indigenous Services, Mental Health - Adult, and Mental Health - Child & Youth

Provides status Indigenous folks funding for 22 hours of counselling with an FNHA-registered provider.
The MWC program provides funding for 22 hours of counselling with an FNHA-registered provider. Only First Nations people with Status and live in BC are be eligible to register for counselling services.

Steps for Accessing:
  • Choose a provider on the list of ‘Approved service providers’
  • Make sure they are accepting new clients and that it’s a good fit
  • Have client fill out the application and give to service provider who submits it directly to FNHA for approval
  • Takes 1-2 weeks for funding approval
  • Once approved, client does not need to pay anything out of pocket
  • If it’s not a good fit and the counsellor wants to change counsellors, they can access the same funding through a different counsellor with no issue.
