Adult Services - Developmental and Intellectual Disabilities

Provided by Inclusion Langley Society

They provide a variety of services for adults with developmental or intellectual disabilities.
The following programs are offered:
  • Community Inclusion Services: These services can be individualized or provided in small groups and are delivered during the day and evening. Individuals are supported to participate in a range of options including securing paid employment, developing life skills, engaging in personal development activities, contributing to the community by volunteering and building community connection through recreation and leisure.
  • Community Inclusion Services for Seniors: Participants are typically older adults who are retired from work or are seeking supports in a relaxed and age friendly environment. Services are offered in small group settings. The Service provides seniors the opportunity to explore and access community resources and events, contribute to their community through volunteering as well as access to an art studio. Participants are supported to build and maintain meaningful relationships that help to reduce the possibility of loneliness. This service encourages access to physical activities to promote and maintain physical strength and mobility with a focus on a range of physical and emotional personal health management activities.
  • Employment Services: Provides a variety of supports to job seekers with developmental disabilities. These services include competitive traditional employment, customized employment, supported self-employment and youth employment. ILS partners with job seekers, families, personal networks and the business community to ensure quality supports and services for both the employee and employer.
  • Home Share: ILS contracts with community Caregivers to share their home and life with an individual who is eligible for services under Community Living BC. Our Home Share team supports and assists individuals and families to plan a home environment that addresses their unique needs and desires. Each Home Share setting is specifically tailored to the individual and may involve a shared living space within the home or a separate suite attached to the home where support is available as needed. The individual and their family have an integral role in selecting the right Caregiver for them and there is time for all parties to get to know each other before a decision is made.
  • In Home Personal Supports: Provides personal care, daily living support and community access to individuals who wish to either remain residing in their family home or who require additional support to live independently.
  • Outreach Services: Offers outreach services to individuals living with family members or individuals who live independently. Outreach services are developed in response to the unique needs of the individual, helping them to have increased independence and connection to their community. Service supports focus on securing employment, developing life and money management skills, accessing personal development activities, establishing healthy relationships and support to access generic resources.
  • Adult Respite: A service that provides parents or primary family caregivers the opportunity for rest and renewal to maintain their resilience and relationships outside of their caregiving role.
  • Supported Living Services: Provides support to adults who live independently in their own home. A wide range of supports are available to promote skill development, community inclusion and assistance to help you manage your health and mental health well-being. We work with you to learn about the kind of supports you need.
