Collaborative Practices Program - Mediation and Family Justice Services

Specialized facilitation for Aboriginal families in crisis or needing extra support to resolve a family dispute.
The Collaborative Practices Program is crafted with the central goal of ensuring the well-being of children during crises or conflicts that requires resolution in their best interests. Their unique approach seeks to diminish the probability of future high-conflict situations by fostering collaboration and self-determination. This empowerment allows participants to autonomously address future issues by navigating conflicts and asserting their needs.

This program caters to a diverse range of individuals and groups entangled in high-conflict situations or disputes prevalent in child welfare. Common stakeholders include: families in crisis, children and youth, parents, caregivers, extended family members, Nations and Indigenous communities which could include Chief and Council, Clan Leaders/ Hereditary Chiefs, Band Designates, as well as, social workers and service providers.

The program facilitates the following collaborative meeting processes:
  • Family Group Conferences (FGC)
  • Permanency Planning Meetings (PPM)
  • Family Case Planning Conferences (FCPC)
  • Youth Transition Conferences (YTC) and Prevention Meetings
