Free First Aid, Injury Prevention, and Disaster Preparedness training in multiple languages.
SmartStart: Community Access to First Aid program
Conducts vital life-saving skills (Basic First Aid), provides information regarding injury prevention and knowledge on emergency medical service access. The program delivers 3-hour workshops that are conducted by qualified Red Cross First Aid Instructors and are available in 18 languages at no cost.

SmartStart: Multilingual Injury Prevention Training program
Aims to provide the right knowledge and skills needed to treat an injured person to individuals who may not have the financial means to undergo training. This includes newcomers, immigrants, seniors, diverse ethnocultural groups, and asylum seekers in the Lower Mainland of British Columbia.

SmartStart: Multilingual Personal Disaster Preparedness program
Conducts personal disaster preparedness workshops to newcomers and vulnerable populations. The emphasis is on home preparedness, response to disasters, disaster evacuation plans and procedures, and the preparation of survival supply kits. Participants may then share their newly acquired knowledge with families and communities so that they are collectively prepared to face any natural disasters. The 2-hour workshop is available in 14 languages at no cost.
