Provides a wide variety of hands-on training from a culturally relevant perspective in the areas of parenting, child and parent attachment, holistic wellness, goal setting, financial management, healthy lifestyles, relapse prevention and much more.
The Family Support Program in Prince George works with families who are involved, or at risk of involvement with the Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD), or who are seeking support and information on parenting, life skills and self-help support. Family members do not have to have an open Family Support file to participate in any of our Family Support groups. Any Prince George families who wish to partake in our life skills programming are welcome.
Navigating the Child Welfare system can be challenging, so CSFS provides advocacy and support to families, and ensure that they have the services in the community they need to achieve their goals. Support is provided in groups or one-to-one interaction with skilled staff members. There is no charge for this program.
Parenting Groups: Parenting groups provide a supportive environment where parents can share their experiences, challenges, and successes. This sense of community can help reduce feelings of isolation and provide a space for understanding and empathy.
Adult Support/Life Skills Groups: Life skills groups focus on teaching practical skills that are essential for daily living. These skills may include budgeting, time management, communication, problem-solving, decision-making, and stress management.
Referrals can be provided to numerous other CSFS programs or other services around the community. They also provide a wide variety of hands-on training from a culturally relevant perspective in the areas of personal identity, child and parent attachment, parenting, effects of colonization, holistic wellness, goal setting, relationships, financial management, healthy lifestyles, relapse prevention and more.
