King Haven Treatment Programs for Substance Use Recovery

Provided by King Haven Treatment Centre

Kinghaven is a 70-day intensive residential treatment program dealing with problematic substance use issues.
Intensive Treatment Program: Kinghaven is a 70-day intensive residential treatment program dealing with problematic substance use issues that follows a Harm Reduction Model of addiction treatment and is comprised of four phases: Orientation, Program Development, Group Therapy, Transitional and Aftercare Planning. Throughout the program, clients have the opportunity to participate in education sessions on keys to recovery, emotional regulation, living your values, stress management, grief and loss, communication, models of recovery, spirituality, trauma and recovery, overcoming stigma, mental health, creativity, as well as family dynamics. They will participate in therapeutic house duties; complete tracking sheets that monitor their participation in a number of aspects of the program including group, what they learned each day, daily exercise, daily centring practices, change plan goals and positive emotional practices. They have the opportunity to attend in-house AA meetings; SMART Recovery meetings, as well as Focus Groups on Self-Esteem, Co-Dependency, Art Therapy and Relapse Prevention/Aftercare Planning.

Employment Readiness Program: Provides support to clients wishing to improve their employability following treatment and is an integral part of our 70-day Intensive Treatment Program. Admission to this part of the program is contingent on the client’s engagement in the first five weeks of the Intensive Treatment Program. The program consists of multiple interventions that will support the clients as they transition from residential treatment to community attachment, education or training programs, social service community connections and/or housing supports.

Valley House: Valley House is our Stabilization and Transitional Living program designed for adult men who have long-term, chronic substance use issues and require additional time to become “treatment ready.” This 90-day program allows for men to engage in a less-intense group therapy model of treatment while preparing, if they wish, to transfer into the more intense Kinghaven program. This program is limited to six participants at a time allowing for considerable individual time with the program facilitator.

George Schmidt Centre: is a second-stage housing facility for adult men wishing to continue their recovery journey. The facility, located on the Kinghaven Treatment Centre campus in Abbotsford, BC, consists of 30 self-contained apartments with a resident’s lounge, fitness room and laundry facilities.

To be admitted to Kinghaven or Valley House, clients must be:
  • Male
  • 19 Years or older
