SFU Clinical Psychology Centre

Provided by Simon Fraser University

Provides affordable psycological assessment and treatment for individual adults, children, couples, and families as well as group therapy.
Offers affordable, professional psychological services. Psychological treatment is offered to individual adults, children, couples, and families. At times, group therapy may also be available. The CPC also offers psychological assessments, including neuropsychological, psycho-educational, and psychodiagnostic assessments.

CPC offers virtual therapy services in addition to in-person sessions at the clinic.

Psychological services at the CPC are provided by Master's or Doctoral level graduate students in the Clinical Psychology Program at SFU. Student clinicians are supervised in every aspect of their work by CPC directors, clinical program faculty or community-based clinical associates of the CPC.

Services not offered: Clients who are in need of hospitalization at the time of intake, or who are likely to need inpatient care, are not usually accepted for clinical services. The CPC does not accept clients who are currently involved in the legal system or where release of clinical records for legal purposes is probable (e.g., WorkSafe, ICBC, long-term disability claims, child custody and access suits).

Services are not available to SFU students, staff, or faculty due to the potential for dual relationships.

Cost: Fees for therapy and assessments are offered on a sliding scale based on gross family income. Individual therapy sessions (50 minutes) range from $15 to $85, while couples and family sessions range from $25 to $115 and may be 50 or 80 minutes in length. Group therapy fees vary depending on the length and format of the program. Formal assessments are offered at a single fee, also determined on a sliding scale, with installment payment options available.

Requests for fee reductions are considered based on financial need. Individuals are advised to speak with their clinician, who will consult with the CPC Directors.
