Primary Care Access Clinic (PCAC) - Campbell River

Provides care for non-emergency health concerns within 12 - 24 hours for individuals who cannot access their primary care provider or do not have one.
The Campbell River Primary Care Access Clinic (PCAC) is for people who need same-day care for a health concern that should be seen within 12 to 24 hours. For life-threatening emergencies, call 9-1-1 or go to the nearest emergency department. When possible, patients are requested to try to book an appointment with their primary healthcare provider, but can attend at the PCAC if unable to see their provider. Care is provided for ailments such as:
  • Coughs, colds, fevers, or sore throat
  • Headaches and back pain
  • Minor illnesses, fevers or infections in children
  • Support and care after sexual assault
  • Urinary tract infections (also available through pharmacy)
  • Ear infections, and general infections or abscesses
  • Stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and constipation
  • Mental health concerns such as low mood, anxiety and depression
  • Skin conditions such as rashes, skin irritation, minor wounds or itchy spots
  • Allergic reactions or asthma (call 911 immediately if there is difficulty breathing)
  • Minor injuries such as sprains, strains, cuts requiring stitches, suture removal, and stabilization for hospital transport

PCAC also has Registered Nurses who can offer:
  • Ear syringing
  • Wound care
  • Suture removal
  • Referral to community health services
  • Sexually transmitted infection (STI) care including prevention, testing, treatment, and support
  • Pregnancy testing and supported decision-making for unexpected pregnancies

  • Please be advised that this is NOT a walk-in clinic
  • Patients requiring care must call 1-833-688-8722 to book an appointment
  • Phone lines open during the week at 8:00 AM (Monday to Friday), with first appointments available at 8:30 AM.

Hours of Operation are Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM (closed weekends and statutory holidays).
Same day, in-person appointments can be booked daily at 8:00 AM, first appointment available at 8:30 AM.
The clinic is located at the North Island Hospital, Campbell River and District Administration Building, adjacent to the hospital.
