Carnegie Community Centre — often referred to as the living room of the Downtown Eastside — provides social, educational, cultural, and recreational activities on-site and nearby at Oppenheimer Park. The programs serve low income adults with the goal of nurturing mind, body, and spirit in a safe and welcoming environment.
Carnegie programs and services can be enjoyed by members all year long. Membership fees are $1 and cards can be purchased from the Information Desk, 365 days a year.
Various programs are offered including:
- Bike repairs
- Haircuts
- Crafts
- Music
- ESL improvement
- Digital learning skills
- Flu shots
- Cultural sharing with an Elder
- Bingo
- Food (offered at an additional cost ranging from $2.25-$3.50)
- Volunteer opportunities
