Housing and Violence Prevention Services for Women

Provided by YWCA Metro Vancouver

Provides supportive housing for pregnant women, and support for women who have experienced abuse.
The following programs are offered:
Crabtree Corner Housing: A transitional program, with supports for pregnant and parenting women in recovery, based on a harm reduction model. Participants identify what wellness means to them and work to achieve this. All residents must complete and revise wellness plans with staff on a consistent basis. The maximum length of stay is from pregnancy to nine months postpartum. Mothers who are working to regain custody are eligible to stay for up to 12 months. YWCA Crabtree Corner Housing is not emergency housing and is unable to accommodate women on short notice. Applicants should expect a waiting period of several months before a space becomes available.
Eligibility:
  • Pregnant with no other children in their care.
  • Parent without children (12 and under) in their care but seeking custody.
  • Must have a source of income to meet rental requirements.
  • Must agree to participate in the support program.
  • Must have concrete goals to parent and work on a recovery plan.
Please note that priority will be given to current Sheway participants first. Other applicants who meet the eligibility criteria will be considered. To apply, individuals must complete the attached application form and submit it either in person at 533 East Hastings or by fax to 604-216-1665, addressed to the Housing Manager.

Peer Mentorship and Financial Literacy Program: Through workshops and one-to-one support, participants learn about debt management and repayment, building credit and saving for the future while receiving support to access resources and services. Using a peer model, the program also connects participants to program graduates.

Crabtree Corner: Offers programs, support and services to women who have experienced abuse or violence in a relationship. They also provide connections to affordable housing, legal support, education, emotional support and safety planning.

YWCA Reflections & Connections: A ten-week information and support group for self-identifying women who have experienced abuse by an intimate partner.

Violence Prevention Support Staff: One-to-one and group support for women living in Vancouver who have experienced abuse in an intimate relationship, including relationships with romantic partners, parents or caregivers. Offered three cycles per year. Currently online via Zoom.
