Multi-disciplinary pain clinic that emphasises preventative measures, holistic care and patient empowerment through personalised, integrated whole-person care and function recovery services.
changepain is an accredited medical and allied health pain clinic in Burnaby, with online Group Medical Visits available for all British Columbians to access. While MSP-Covered Medical services require a referral, other services offered by changepain do not require a referral (see below for more information). They support integrated whole person care by using a neuroscience-based approach to help patients recover function early from motor vehicle accidents, surgery, cancer therapy or work and sports injury.

Patient Eligibility
  • Resident of British Columbia
  • Those requiring advanced therapies for mental health conditions impacted by injury and pain, such as PTSD, depression and anxiety
  • Prevention-minded patients looking to improve overall health and prevent further injuries, and those with Persistent Pain conditions in the categories of musculoskeletal, neuropathic, visceral and central sensitivity
  • Specific patient groups including pre-surgical optimization, early post-surgical recovery, ICBC-WSBC diagnostic & rehab for return to work, opioid weaning (interdisciplinary, multi-dimensional pain management), as well as Canadian Armed Forces Veterans.

Services and Medical Therapies offered include:
  • Pain Management Infusion (PMI) and IV Ketamine for Mood disorders (KET)
  • Supplementary education for patients to prevent acute injuries from chronicity.
  • Mental health supports (counselling, movement therapies, nutrition, advanced ketamine infusion therapy).
  • Various persistent pain mechanisms to treat conditions such as chronic inflammation, neuroplasticity, central sensitization, and nutrient imbalance.
  • Standard medical therapies like medication management, ultrasound-guided and fluoroscopy-guided pain procedures and therapies, such as nerve, muscle and joint injections.
  • A variety of movement therapies, rehab, and multiple complementary therapies such as trauma- informed counselling, Pilates, energy healing, acupuncture, hypnosis, and therapeutic yoga.
