A parenting education and support program designed to help parents of young children develop a nurturing, safe, and positive environment for their children.
The Family Program assists parents of children under the age of six to find the help they need to address parenting challenges. They will help parents assess their family situation as well as provide education, intervention, support and the opportunity for parents to practice their newly-developed skills. This program is available to Surrey residents at no cost through a referral from a local Ministry of Children and Family Development.

The team provides education on basic parenting skills, principles of child development and effective discipline. The program promotes healthy parent-child relationship building and communication.

- Assessments of parenting skills and abilities
- Parent support, education, and intervention
- Individual sessions focusing on parenting and related issues
- Opportunities for parents to practice newly learned skills
- Assistance in building a healthy parent & child relationship using play
- Introducing and demonstrating child-centered activities that promote development
- Providing information and instruction in the areas of basic positive parenting skills, child development, positive discipline, health and safety, and more
- A variety of resources and tools for parents to utilize to enhance their parenting skills
- Assistance in making connections to community resources
- The Family Program operates out of a child-centred setting in Surrey and is close to transit.
- Families work one on one with a Parent Educator to assess their specific needs.
- The program operates Monday through Thursday
- The program is available to Surrey residents at no cost through a referral from the local Ministry of Children and Family Development offices.
- The program offers outreach and in-home services to families
