Family Program - Surrey

The Family Program is designed to help parents of young children develop a nurturing, safe, and positive environment for their children. The team provides education on basic parenting skills, principles of child development and effective discipline. The program promotes healthy parent-child relationship building and communication.
Some of the services offered includes:
- Assessments of parenting skills and abilities
- Parent support, education, and intervention
- Individual sessions focusing on parenting and related issues
- Opportunities for parents to practice newly learned skills
- Assistance in building a healthy parent & child relationship using play
- Introducing and demonstrating child-centered activities that promote development
- Providing information and instruction in the areas of basic positive parenting skills, child development, positive discipline, health and safety, and more
- A variety of resources and tools for parents to utilize to enhance their parenting skills
- Assistance in making connections to community resources
- The Family Program operates out of a child-centred setting in Surrey and is close to transit.
- Families work one on one with a Parent Educator to assess their specific needs.
- The program operates Monday through Thursday
- The program is available to Surrey residents at no cost through a referral from the local Ministry of Children and Family Development offices.
- The program offers outreach and in-home services to families
