Indigenous Health and Wellness Promotion Programs
Condition Specific Support, Healthcare Providers, Indigenous Services, Mental Health - Adult & Senior, Mental Health - Child & Youth, and Public Health
Provided by Fraser Region Aboriginal Friendship Centre Association (FRAFCA)
Operated in partnership with Fraser Health Aboriginal Health and First Nations Health Authority, the Clinic connects self-identifying Aboriginal clients with a team of wellness providers to support emotional, mental, spiritual and physical health. The Clinic is based at two locations: the FRAFCA Whalley Boulevard office and Kla-how-eya Healing Place. Program services include:
- Medical care from nurse practitioners
- Help with finding your way through the healthcare and social service systems
- Pregnancy care and support
- Counselling
- Education on how to manage chronic diseases
- Connect you to specialist care when needed
Supporting Indigenous people living with HIV, Positive Health is a goal driven program rooted in a holistic model of care. Outreach workers first assist and support individuals with stabilization and then focus on an action plan that relates to the client’s social and medical health. Program services include:
- Services available for individuals residing in the Fraser region, from Burnaby to Boston Bar.
- Connection to medical support
- Outreach to clients in need
- Connections to community and resource referral
- Advocacy/appointment accompaniment
- Group facilitation and education
- Counselling and support
